Central Services
Central Services is the agency of Synod's Executive Board "to provide administrative support for all boards, committees, and operating agencies of the General Synod." (Manual of Authorities & Duties) These duties are fulfilled in a number of ways.
The Executive Director of Central Services serves as the Administrative Officer for a number of Boards and Agencies of Synod including the Executive Board, the Board of Benefits, the Board of Stewardship, and the William H. Dunlap Orphanage Board. He also supervises a staff whose duties include publication, communication, bookkeeping, order fulfillment, data processing, duplication, mailing and other tasks of administrative support.
In addition to serving Synod's agencies, boards and committees, numerous services are provided to presbyteries, congregations, ministers and individuals including:
- Typesetting, printing and distribution of Synod and Presbytery Minutes and the Plan Book calendar
- Administration of insurance and retirement benefits
- Collection and distribution of Ministerial Data Forms
- Receipt and disbursement of Synod's funds at the direction of the Treasurer of Synod, and preparation of an annual audit
- Administrative and logistical support for the annual meeting of the General Synod
- Sales of books, certificates, and other resources through the ARP Bookstore
- Maintaining the ARP Synod Web pages, including a list of all congregations
- Maintaining the ARP Center Facility which houses a number of agencies and provides meeting facilities for many boards and committees
