Ministers
"A minister is a man who is called by God in the Lord Jesus Christ, the King and Head of the Church, to a special ministry of the Word." - Form of Government X.A.1.
Minister and Church Data Forms
Associate Reformed Presbyterian ministers, licentiates and students of theology are encouraged to keep an up-to-date copy of their data form (MS Word) on file at the ARP Center. Churches seeking ministers are likewise asked to keep an up-to-date data form (MS Word) on file. The blank forms may be downloaded from the links above, completed and e-mailed to Benefits Assistant Stephanie Bishop. Churches seeking ministers should also make contact through that link.
Becoming an ARP Minister
As a matter of policy, the General Synod does not maintain or circulate data forms for non-Associate Reformed Presbyterian ministers or non-Associate Reformed Presbyterian students of theology. Those seeking affiliation should read Chapter X of our Form of Government (PDF): "Concerning Ministers" and Study Questions for Presbytery Examinations. (PDF)
The General Synod's Committee on Minister and His Work has approved the following procedure for those non-Associate Reformed Presbyterian Ministers (and Students of Theology) who desire the assistance of the presbyteries in seeking a Call in the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church:
The Minister (or Student) should complete the prescribed data form (MS Word) and make telephone contact with the Presbytery Chairman who is closest to him geographically. (Note: All our presbyteries are organized by geographical bounds.) The telephone contact will be for the purpose of arranging a time for an interview.
The Minister (or Student) should mail, FAX or e-mail the Data Form to the Presbytery Chairman with whom he has arranged the interview.
The Presbytery Committee/Commission on Minister and His Work will review the Data Form, arrange the interview, and determine whether or not to commend the Minister (or Student) for consideration for a Call to an Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church.
For those Ministers (or Students) commended for consideration for a Call, the Presbytery Chairman will initiate the distribution of the Data Form to the other Presbytery Chairman and to the Director of Outreach North America if an interest or aptitude as a Mission Developer has been evidenced.
Presbytery Committees/Commissions will use their discretion in making the Data Form available to churches in their presbytery.
