Associate Pastor
Ministry Description
The First Presbyterian Church of Columbia is seeking to appoint a new associate minister to its staff, to share in the pastoral leadership of the congregation and to work alongside a current team of five ordained ministers and others in pastoral leadership.
The committee seeks to nominate a minister who will share with his colleagues in pastoring the whole congregation, and for whom specific aspects of his ministry and responsibility will be part of his overall commitment to the congregation's life and his love for all the flock.
While the role of the minister called will, in some measure, be shaped around the particular gifts of the individual who is called, the search committee seeks a man who:
- is marked by graces and gifts for the ministry of the gospel and whose growth in the ministry has been evident to all (1 Tim. 4:15)
- possesses proven gifts in teaching and preaching
- is able to give leadership to ministry among men

Covenant Fellowship
Position Summary:
The Pastor exercises the general oversight of the pulpit ministry for Covenant Fellowship (CF), a Greensboro, NC congregation of approximately 35 families. He will be capable and motivated to provide the teaching and leadership necessary for the promotion of the spiritual growth and well-being of the congregation. His primary spiritual gift is that of teaching. His passion for teaching and preaching outweigh other aspects of the pastoral responsibilities.
Qualification:
The Pastor must meet all the qualifications and be in good standing in the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. The Pastor must keep a reasonably good state of health and must fulfill responsibilities in a satisfactory manner as determined by the Session. The Session may add to these other minimal requirements.
Knowledge and Skills:
1.Teacher. He will be a spiritually gifted and passionate teacher and preacher of the Bible. He must be desiring and able to preach the full gospel and encourage the spiritual growth of the congregation. He will be a shepherd with a very deep heart for the Lord. His passionate relationship with Christ must be evident and supersedes programs and systems.
2.Leader. He will be a leader in general with a vision and the skills to continue the equipping and lay ministry development and small group focus of CF. He will encourage unity and community both inside and outside the church.
Responsibilities:
The duties of the Pastor fall in the following areas:
1.Oversee the pulpit ministry
- Provide oversight and development of the preaching themes and series
- Spend the necessary hours weekly studying and preparing for sermons
- Preach approximately 80% of the Sunday morning services
- Be prepared to teach at other venues such as small groups, evening services, and special occasions as specified by the Session
- Oversee and coordinate preachers on those Sundays when he is not in the pulpit
- Assist the Worship Team and OPS Team as needed and necessary by offering guidance and direction for the worship
- Administer the Sacraments
2.Serve as the primary articulator of the vision and goals of the church as determined by the Session.
- Articulate the vision of the church via pulpit, teaching venues, and publications of the church.
- Pray for the vision of the church.
3.Serve as Teaching Elder and serve the Associate Reformed Presbyterian denomination.
- Attend scheduled Session meetings as Moderator
- Attend Presbytery and Synod meetings
- Teach and uphold the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Standards
- Recruit and develop future leaders for both Elder and Deacon responsibilities and boards
- Mentor the members of the Session
4.Serve as primary administrator for CF. His duties will include:
- Prepare the Sunday worship service bulletin and insure that any other materials necessary for the worship service are made available
- Make and return CF related phone calls
- Manage all necessary CF mail correspondence
- Follow-up communication with visitors
- Maintain all financial records necessary for the ministry as approved by the Session
- Communicate regularly with the congregation via email, postcards, letters, phone calls, etc.
- Maintain in good order necessary statistical information as required by the Presbytery and Synod
- Maintain consistent office hours that are made available to the congregation
- Provide such future administrative services as necessary and approved by the Session
Supervision:
The Pastor reports to the Session.
Review:
Job description is to be reviewed annually by the Session or such committee as approved and appointed by the Session
Associate Pastor
First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in Gastonia, N.C. is searching for an Associate Pastor. First A.R.P. Church is an historic church, being founded in 1837, and still has a heart for mission and ministry. We are committed to being a gospel-centered, kingdom-building Reformed Church. Presently, we have over 800 members with an average attendance of over 500 people at the two Sunday morning worship services.
We are seeking candidates that are committed not only to the theological commitments of the A.R.P. Church, but the philosophy of ministry as it is lived out in this local church.
We are looking for a man who would share the pastoral role with the Senior Pastor, staff and congregation. Teaching will be an important work in this position, as well as working in other administrative and leadership roles. Potential areas of ministry are: development of an Institute for Theology and Discipleship, expanding a Men's Ministry, Mission Ministry, Sunday School, Small Group, teacher and officer training.
Ideally, we are looking for a man who would like to hone his ministry gifts, grow his pastor's heart, and after several years, be better equipped to plant a church or serve as a Senior Pastor.
