Board of Stewardship Member Profile

Term of Service: Six Years

Stated Meetings: Semi-Annual (Fall and Spring)

Profile: The Board is to be made up as follows: Six (6) members elected by the General Synod; the Chairman of each Presbytery's Committee on Finance/Stewardship; Treasurer of the General Synod; and Treasurer of ARP Women's Ministries. Non-voting Advisory Members: Moderator, Moderator-Elect; Synod Co-ordinator, and the Board's Administrative Officer.

Qualifications: Members should be men and women who:

  1. Have demonstrated Christian commitment by being active in a local church and serving under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
  2. Have demonstrated their trust and faith in the Lord by tithing to the local church.
  3. Have experience or knowledge of the financial operations of the local church and Presbytery.
  4. Are committed to service through the giving of their time and talents toward the purpose of the Board.

Purpose: The purpose of the Board of Stewardship is to:

  1. Act as the legal entity for the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church.
  2. Review individual budgets of each of Synod's boards and agencies, and to recommend the allocation of funds received from member churches to allow or assist in the operation of the boards and agencies.
  3. Teach, encourage, and promote stewardship of all that God has given us throughout the denomination, with the membership encouraged to communicate within their respective presbyteries the goals and aims of the Board of Stewardship, especially as they pertain to the presbytery and the churches of the presbytery.
